Senate Banking Committee Unanimously Passes Landmark Housing Bill

This morning, the Senate Banking Committee unanimously advanced the bipartisan ROAD to
Housing Act
to the full Senate. The Committee passed the bill 24-0 without amendment.

NAAHL summarized this sweeping, bipartisan bill, which includes provisions to expand housing
supply, streamline regulatory requirements, and encourage new investment in affordable housing.

“NAAHL applauds Chair Scott, Ranking Member Warren, and all members of the
Banking Committee for their commitment to addressing our nation’s affordable housing
crisis and their collaboration on this bipartisan housing package,” said National Association
of Affordable Housing Lenders President and CEO Sarah Brundage. “The ROAD to Housing
Act
will increase investments and remove unnecessary barriers to development to boost
housing supply, bringing down housing costs for American families in urban, suburban,
and rural communities.”

NAAHL urges Congress to adopt the ROAD to Housing Act quickly and to pair it with
investments in housing through the tax code, particularly the Neighborhood Homes Investment
Act
and provisions of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act to boost affordable
homeownership and affordable rental housing in rural and Tribal communities.
